The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s economic and structural reforms are beginning to show positive results, with food prices dropping, fuel costs stabilizing, and the exchange rate improving.
Idris made this known during the 4th edition of the 2025 Ministerial Briefing, which featured the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmed.
The briefing provided an opportunity for ministers to update Nigerians on the achievements and progress recorded under their leadership.
Economic Reforms Leading to Stability
Addressing journalists, Idris commended the media for their role in keeping Nigerians informed about the government’s programs, policies, and achievements. He emphasized that Tinubu’s reforms, though initially challenging, are now yielding the expected results.

“Across the world, history has shown that meaningful reforms are never easy but demand sacrifice, resilience, and a commitment to long-term progress. The initial pains that often accompany these changes are a necessary price for a more stable and prosperous future,” Idris stated.
He acknowledged the patience and perseverance of Nigerians, assuring them that the government’s reforms are not only well-intentioned but essential for the nation’s growth.
Food and Fuel Prices Declining

According to the minister, the positive impact of these policies is becoming evident, as seen in:
- Declining food prices
- Stability in the exchange rate
- Gradual reduction in fuel costs
These developments, he said, are clear indicators that the economic policies of Tinubu’s administration are beginning to take shape.
Call for Prayers During Ramadan & Lent
In his address, Idris urged religious leaders to use the sacred periods of Ramadan and Lent to pray for peace, security, and national progress.

“I want to urge our Muslim and Christian leaders, particularly during this period of fasting and reflection, to continue to pray for Nigeria’s success. With unity, faith, and collective effort, we will emerge stronger, more resilient, and positioned for lasting prosperity,” he added.
A New Nigeria in the Making?
With these developments, the Nigerian government is optimistic that the worst is behind and that the economy is on the path to recovery. However, many Nigerians continue to watch closely, assessing the real impact of these policies on their daily lives.
