The National Consultative Front (NCFront), in partnership with the Labour and Civil Society Front (LCSF), has unveiled plans to host a National Dialogue on Electoral Reforms as part of a nationwide campaign to reshape Nigeria’s electoral system ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to NCFront spokesperson, Mallam Hamisu San Turaki, the dialogue will take place on October 1, 2025, following resolutions from a consultative leadership meeting in Lagos. The campaign will advocate for sweeping reforms such as:
Compulsory electronic transmission of results
- Stricter penalties for vote buying
- Early and diaspora voting options
- Proportional representation in governance

Special seats for women and vulnerable groups
Among the notable Nigerians spearheading the reform drive are Prof. Pat Utomi, Prof. Attahiru Jega, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), Femi Falana (SAN), Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Comrade Joe Ajaero, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Barr. Clement Nwankwo and Samson Itodo, among others.
Turaki added that the October 1 event will also see the formal launch of the Alliance for Defence of Democracy (ADD), designed to mobilise citizens and coordinate efforts for deep-rooted electoral reforms. The gathering will feature top civil society voices and labour leaders, including NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, as part of a broader push to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy.
