The Enugu State Government has accused Olasijibomi Ogundele, Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, of defrauding the state of nearly ₦6 billion meant for the construction of 22 Smart Green Schools.
In a statement on Friday, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Malachy Agbo, alleged that Ogundele abandoned the projects after receiving 50% of the ₦11.45 billion contract sum, awarded in July 2024. The state said ₦5.76 billion was released to fast-track completion, but inspections showed shoddy work, use of inexperienced workers, and abandoned sites, with many stuck at the foundation level.
Agbo further accused Ogundele of presenting a Jaiz Bank bond to secure the contract but receiving payments through another bank account, thereby shielding Jaiz Bank from liability. “This was a premeditated intent to defraud the state,” he said, adding that the projects have now been reassigned to new contractors and will be delivered by September 2025.

In response, Ogundele denied the allegations in an emotional video, insisting, “I’m not a thief, I’m not a fugitive. This is a contract issue. Inflation and project delays caused the breakdown. I will go to the EFCC to clear my name.”
However, the EFCC has since declared him wanted. In a notice signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency urged the public to provide information on Ogundele’s whereabouts, stating he is under investigation for diversion of funds and money laundering.
