Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has opened up on how her exciting collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper Skepta came to life on her new single, “On The Low.”
The superstar singer revealed that the feature happened effortlessly after she casually reached out to Skepta via direct message. To her surprise, things aligned smoothly, leading to what has now become one of the hottest Afrobeats crossovers of the year.
Tiwa narrated how she linked up with Skepta in his studio in London. After playing the track for him, the rapper instantly connected with the sound and jumped on it.
“So, ladies, I want to say that it does work sometimes when you slide into that DM. I did slide into the DM and was like, hey, big smoke. I didn’t really tell him up front what I wanted. I was just like, I’m in London.
He said he was in the studio, so I went over and played him the record, and he loved it. I particularly loved shooting the visuals for this. So if you haven’t seen it, make sure you check it out,” she revealed.
