Nigeria’s Super Falcons didn’t just secure their historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title — they also took home top individual honours at the 2024 tournament in Morocco.
In a thrilling final played in Rabat on Saturday night, the Falcons came from two goals down to defeat host nation Morocco 3-2, sealing a perfect record of 10 wins in 10 WAFCON finals. The hard-fought victory was capped off by individual recognition for two of Nigeria’s brightest stars: Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie.
Rasheedat Ajibade – Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Super Falcons’ captain Rasheedat Ajibade was crowned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, a recognition of her consistency, creativity, and leadership throughout the competition. The pacy winger was a constant threat in attack and earned the Woman of the Match in three separate games. Her standout performances were crucial in Nigeria’s road to glory, including a spirited comeback in the final.

Despite falling short in the final, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak claimed the Golden Boot with 5 goals. Her early goal in the final gave the Atlas Lionesses a brief lead before the Falcons roared back.
South Africa, which lost to Nigeria in the semi-finals, received the Fair Play Award for their exemplary conduct throughout the tournament.
