Dele Momodu Dumps PDP For ADC, Blames ‘Anti-Democratic Forces’.

Abuja, Nigeria — July 17, 2025

Veteran journalist and Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s alleged takeover by “anti-democratic forces.”

Momodu confirmed the move in a resignation letter dated July 17, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State.

  • “I wish to inform you of my decision to resign from our political party, PDP, with immediate effect.
  • My reason is simple and straightforward. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight.
  • It is, therefore, honourable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” Momodu stated.

Joins Opposition Coalition Ahead Of 2027

Momodu disclosed that he will join the ADC-led coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.

His defection comes just days after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar dumped the PDP for the same ADC platform, signaling a major realignment in the opposition bloc.

‘Wike Is A Mole’ – Momodu

Earlier this month, Momodu accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of working against the PDP during the 2023 general elections while secretly supporting the APC.

“Without any doubt, people are leaving the carcass of PDP to Wike and his cronies. It was a prophecy foretold,” he said during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

He also alleged that the ruling APC has deployed political moles to weaken major opposition parties ahead of 2027.

“The ruling party does not want competition in 2027, so what they are doing now is to send their moles into any major formidable party,” he added.

Slams Tinubu Administration

Momodu criticized President Tinubu’s government, claiming the country’s situation is now worse than under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Is this the Nigeria of your dreams? Are you better today than you were two years ago? At least when Buhari left, we saw what he left, no matter how bad it was, but it is much worse today,” Momodu stated.
