Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal is under fire from the Spanish government following a controversial celebration for his 18th birthday, which has drawn widespread criticism over the alleged exploitation of people with dwarfism and discriminatory selection of female guests.
The teenage football star, who turned 18 on July 13, reportedly hosted a mafia-themed party attended by around 200 guests, including family, friends, and some teammates. However, the event has sparked a national outcry after claims surfaced that women with specific breast measurements were paid to attend, and individuals with dwarfism were used as part of the entertainment.

One of the first to expose the alleged activities at the party was social media model Claudio Calvo, who accused Yamal of hiring 12 women based on their body types for the party.
In response to growing backlash, the Spanish Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias (ADEE) issued a strongly worded statement condemning the act and threatened legal and social action. The group criticized the event for violating the dignity and rights of people with disabilities.
- “These actions violate not only current legislation but also the fundamental ethical values of a society that seeks to be egalitarian and respectful,” ADEE stated.
Jesús Martín, Spain’s General Director of Disability, expressed deep concern and has called for a full government probe into the incident. According to reports from Marca, Yamal could face a fine of up to £867,000.

- “We are concerned that people with money and power believe themselves to be above the law,” Martín said.
- “This kind of behaviour sends the wrong message to young fans who idolize footballers.”
The Spanish government has now stepped in, demanding an official investigation into the matter, while ADEE pushes for legal consequences to prevent future violations of this nature.
As the controversy grows, attention has shifted to Barcelona FC, with many wondering if the club will respond or take disciplinary action.
