Grammy award-winning Nigerian superstar, Burna Boy, has revealed that he doesn’t see music as a job, but rather as a lifestyle and passion that fuels his everyday life.

Speaking during a recent interview on BBC Radio 1Xtra, the ‘Odogwu’ crooner explained why he rarely takes breaks or vacations, stating that his love for music makes it feel like second nature—something he doesn’t need to escape from.

“I love my job. I don’t consider my job a job. I consider it life. Why do I need a vacation from life?” Burna Boy said.

He emphasized that his role as a musician is different from physically demanding professions like construction work, which naturally require time off. For him, music is an extension of his being.

“It’s not like I am a bricklayer or labourer. That’s what you need a vacation from—not when you’re Burna Boy. My job is literally a lifestyle. It’s what I would wish to do even if I wasn’t doing it.”

Burna Boy added that unless he grows older or has a child, there’s no reason for him to take a break from what he loves most.

“I don’t even have a kid. There’s nothing I’m vacationing for.”
