Kylian Mbappe, now a Real Madrid star, has officially withdrawn his legal complaints against former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over alleged harassment and attempted extortion, French outlet L’Equipe reported on Monday.
However, the 26-year-old France international is still pursuing his €55 million compensation claim from the French champions.
Background of the Dispute
NAIJABLOGDAILY recalls that Mbappe filed a lawsuit against PSG in May 2024, accusing the club of moral harassment and attempts to coerce him into signing a new contract in 2023. During that period, Mbappe was reportedly banned from first-team training, sparking international concern over player rights.
The complaint, filed on May 16, 2024, triggered a formal judicial investigation into PSG’s handling of the saga. Two investigating magistrates have since been assigned to the case.
Current Legal Status
While Mbappe has now dropped the criminal complaints related to harassment and extortion, his legal team is pressing ahead with the financial aspect of the case. The €55 million claim reportedly involves unpaid loyalty bonuses and other entitlements he believes PSG still owes him.
