Arsenal FC has shifted its focus to Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, abandoning its long-term pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, according to multiple reports.
The Gunners, under manager Mikel Arteta, had made several attempts to sign Slovenian international Sesko, including a push during the January transfer window and renewed interest this summer.

Negotiations with Sesko’s representatives reportedly hit a deadlock, with the player’s wage demands and bonuses becoming a major obstacle.

These complications forced Arsenal to pull the plug on the deal and re-evaluate their options, especially with Arteta keen to secure a new striker before the club’s pre-season tour.
Gyokeres Becomes Arsenal’s Top Target
As a result, the Gunners have now turned their attention to Viktor Gyokeres, the Swedish international forward who has been in sensational form for Sporting CP. Gyokeres scored over 40 goals across all competitions last season and has a €100 million release clause.
Arsenal are believed to be exploring creative financial structures to secure the 26-year-old striker, who fits Arteta’s pressing and physical style of play.
