FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has revealed the real reason why former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and other political heavyweights left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking during a media chat on Thursday, Wike accused the defectors of attempting to hijack the PDP’s leadership, a move which ultimately failed and led them to form a coalition under ADC.

“David Mark wanted to become the national chairman of the PDP, but he was denied. That’s why he left. Same goes for others. They couldn’t hijack the party,” Wike said.
He dismissed the new coalition as a gathering of politicians who are angry simply because they are no longer in power.
- “Nigerians must be careful with these kinds of people—those who are bitter because they no longer have access to power. They are trying to deceive Nigerians again. But the people are wiser now.”

Wike maintained that the opposition has weakened itself ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that the internal crisis and desperation for control have made them vulnerable.
“The opposition has decimated themselves,” he added.
