The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that the proposed political party, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), cannot be registered at this time due to failure to meet necessary requirements.
This was disclosed by Mr. Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, during a media briefing on Tuesday in Abuja.
Olumekun clarified that although several political groups have submitted letters of intent to form political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, none—including ADA—has fulfilled the legal conditions required for formal registration.
- “The truth is that we have so many letters of intent presently, and none of them is an application yet. They must first meet the criteria before submitting a formal application,” Olumekun said.

Sources within INEC revealed that the promoters of ADA made a critical omission in their correspondence by leaving out the word “electoral” in the letter addressed to the INEC Chairman—an error that may have contributed to their disqualification at this stage.
INEC Maintains Strict Guidelines for Party Registration
As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections, INEC emphasized that it remains committed to upholding the Electoral Act and ensuring that any new political party meets all necessary legal, administrative, and constitutional standards before registration.
