Tension gripped Benue State on Sunday evening as suspected gunmen hijacked a Benue Links commercial bus along the Otukpo–Otukpa Road in Okpokwu Local Government Area, abducting all passengers on board.

The brazen attack occurred around 6:30 PM near Eke, throwing the area into panic as reports confirmed that the assailants not only robbed passengers but also led them into the surrounding bush.

Benue Links Vehicle Ambushed, All Occupants Kidnapped

According to information obtained by NaijaBlogDaily, the targeted vehicle—bearing registration number 14B-143BN—was en route with commuters when it was ambushed. Witnesses say the attackers swiftly blocked the road, looted passengers of their valuables, and forcefully led them into the forest.

Benue APC Chairman Triggers Emergency Response

Comrade Austin Agada, the Benue State APC Chairman, is reported to have driven past the scene shortly after the incident and taken immediate action.

Security forces were mobilised swiftly and have since launched a search-and-rescue operation aimed at securing the release of the kidnapped victims.

As of the time of this report, joint security teams have been deployed to comb the surrounding forests in hopes of locating and rescuing the abducted individuals.

Authorities have yet to release an official casualty figure or update on the exact number of victims involved.
