Benue State –
The Benue State Government has declared Wednesday, June 18, 2025, a public holiday ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the state.
🟢 NaijaBlogDaily reports that the President will embark on a one-day condolence visit to commiserate with the government and people of Benue over the recent spate of deadly attacks that have claimed several lives across communities.
A Symbolic and Compassionate Visit
The announcement was made in an official statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Serumun Deborah Aber, who disclosed that Tinubu personally decided to cut short his schedule to be present in the state during this trying time.
“This visit is both symbolic and compassionate. It’s a show of solidarity with the people of Benue who have faced tragic losses due to ongoing violence,” the statement noted.
Who Gets the Day Off?
While the public holiday applies to the general workforce, the directive excludes essential workers, including:
- Health professionals
- Security agencies
- Banking institutions

Citizens Urged to Come Out in Numbers
The Benue government is calling on all residents to come out en masse to welcome the President and his delegation as they arrive in Makurdi.
“This is a significant moment for the state. Let’s come together to give Mr. President a warm reception,” the statement urged.
