The Benue State Government has declared Wednesday, June 18, 2025, a public holiday ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the state.

A Symbolic and Compassionate Visit

The announcement was made in an official statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Serumun Deborah Aber, who disclosed that Tinubu personally decided to cut short his schedule to be present in the state during this trying time.

“This visit is both symbolic and compassionate. It’s a show of solidarity with the people of Benue who have faced tragic losses due to ongoing violence,” the statement noted.

Who Gets the Day Off?

While the public holiday applies to the general workforce, the directive excludes essential workers, including:

  • Health professionals
  • Security agencies
  • Banking institutions
