Child Labour Is Stealing the Dreams of Millions — First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Cries Out.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has decried the ongoing practice of child labour in the country, calling it a heartbreaking injustice that robs millions of children of their future.

Speaking in a statement to mark the 2025 World Day Against Child Labour on June 12, the First Lady described the issue as a national crisis and called for urgent action.

“Today, we raise our voices for millions of children whose dreams are stolen by the harsh reality of child labour,” she stated. “It is unacceptable that children are still forced to work instead of going to school, pursuing their dreams, and learning how to grow into productive members of society.”

Mrs. Tinubu called for a nationwide push to end child labour by:

  • Strengthening existing laws,
  • Providing more support to struggling families, and
  • Investing heavily in quality education for all Nigerian children.

She stressed that child labour is not just a legal issue, but a moral and social one that demands a united front.
