Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service swiftly responded to the scene. According to Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emergency teams were already on the ground and managing the situation.

Gawat, reacting on social media to concerned Lagosians, noted that the fire possibly started from a building behind the fuel station, adding that first responders acted promptly to contain the spread.

Residents and passers-by were seen fleeing in panic, with emergency responders cordoning off the area to allow rescue operations to proceed without interference.

Spokesperson for the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed that firefighters successfully curtailed the blaze and prevented it from spreading to nearby buildings. As of 6:00 PM, the fire had been brought under control.

Meanwhile, another fire incident was reported on Victoria Island, Lagos, on the same day. The blaze occurred at 151 Amodu Bello Way, directly opposite the Silverbird Galleria.

Amodu disclosed that the VI fire started around 5:22 PM, and although the rescue team from Oniru Fire Station was deployed immediately, traffic congestion caused a 22-minute delay. Nonetheless, the team acted fast to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent properties.

Thankfully, no casualties were recorded in either the Ifako-Ijaiye and Victoria Island fire outbreaks.
