Tinubu to Sanwo-Olu: “It’s All Over Now, All Is Forgiven” – President Ends Rumoured Rift with Lagos Governor, (Video).

LAGOS, NIGERIA –

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he has forgiven Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, putting an end to speculations about a political fallout between the two influential figures in Lagos APC politics.

During a closed-door reconciliation meeting held on Saturday, Tinubu stated, “It’s all over now. All is forgiven,” addressing the long-rumored tension that recently came to light, especially after Tinubu appeared to snub Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos Coastal Highway inauguration weeks ago — a video of which sparked widespread discussions on social media.

The meeting was attended by top members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the apex decision-making body in Lagos State politics, who reportedly pleaded with the president on behalf of Sanwo-Olu and others perceived to have fallen out of his favour.

Chairman of the GAC, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, acknowledged that Tinubu had harboured some displeasure but appreciated his willingness to forgive. Sources present at the meeting confirmed that the president reassured those in attendance that he held no grudges.

In a symbolic act of humility and respect, Governor Sanwo-Olu and several GAC members prostrated before the president, asking for forgiveness and pledging loyalty.

While the specific reasons for the disagreement were not publicly disclosed, the atmosphere of the meeting reportedly focused on unity and healing within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu Pays Sallah Homage, Praises Tinubu’s Leadership

On Sunday, Governor Sanwo-Olu led a powerful delegation of Lagos political leaders to President Tinubu’s residence in Ikoyi to pay Sallah homage in honour of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Speaking after the visit, Sanwo-Olu said, “As is tradition during festive periods, whenever he comes around, we — the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) — come to felicitate with Mr. President. This is no exception.”

He further described the visit as an opportunity to show continued support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he claimed is already yielding visible results in Lagos and across Nigeria.

“We can see and feel the impact of what he has done in the last two years,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The high-powered delegation included:

  • Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly
  • Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor
  • Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President
  • Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, APC Lagos State Chairman
  • Senators Tokunbo Abiru and Ganiyu Solomon
  • Cardinal James Odunmbaku, among others
