Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has singled out Inter Milan as the strongest team in this season’s UEFA Champions League, surprising many who had expected him to name Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, or Bayern Munich.
Simeone made the comments after Atletico’s thrilling 2-1 victory over the Serie A giants on Wednesday night at the Wanda Metropolitano. Julian Alvarez gave Atletico an early lead, but Piotr Zielinski equalized for Inter before Jose Maria Gimenez’s dramatic 93rd-minute header sealed the win for the Spanish side.
