Nigerian dancer and former Big Brother Naija star, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, popularly known as Liquorose, has opened up about her near-miss with the reality show in 2020.
Speaking on a recent podcast with VJ Adams, Liquorose revealed that she was backstage and fully ready to participate in BBNaija 2020 but was prevented from entering the house after testing positive for COVID-19.
- “In 2020, I was backstage at the BBNaija opening show. I was dressed up and makeup done, but I was not called. That really hurt me,” she shared.
Liquorose, along with another prospective housemate, Jaypaul, had their participation in the show halted due to the positive COVID-19 test results, leaving her disappointed and nearly derailed from pursuing her dream.
Reflecting on her journey, Liquorose disclosed that she almost skipped auditioning the following year, but a friend encouraged her to try again.

“That experience was messing with me. So, the following year, I didn’t even want to audition but my friend convinced me to try. I just auditioned and forgot about it. I just went to check my spam one day and I discovered that I had been selected. It was crazy,” she recalled.
Liquorose eventually made it onto BBNaija Season 5 in 2021 and emerged as the runner-up, losing the grand prize to Whitemoney. Her story is a testament to perseverance and the importance of not giving up on one’s dreams despite setbacks.
