Governor Sule Unveils N517.5bn 2026 Budget, Seeks Quick Approval from Nasarawa Assembly.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has presented a ₦517.54 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau assured the Governor of full collaboration and a speedy review of the Appropriation Bill to support the state’s development goals.

Governor Sule described the 2026 proposal as the “Budget of Strategic Consolidation,” praising the Assembly for its steady cooperation in previous budget cycles.

According to the Governor, the budget is designed to:

  • Consolidate ongoing infrastructure projects
  • Boost economic competitiveness and connectivity
  • Expand job creation through industrialisation, SMEs, and agriculture
  • Improve healthcare and education services
  • Strengthen environmental management
  • Advance urban renewal initiatives

Budget Composition

Total Budget: ₦517.54 billion

Recurrent Expenditure: ₦212.79 billion (41.12%)

Capital Expenditure: ₦304.75 billion (58.88%)

Sule emphasized that the spending ratio demonstrates his administration’s commitment to capital investment and long-term development.

  • Law & Justice: ₦16.09bn
  • Social Sector: ₦170.92bn
  • Infrastructure: ₦157.80bn (30.49%)

  • Governance, Security & General Administration: ₦142.96bn

Governor Sule also highlighted the establishment of six strategic agencies to drive modernization, strengthen institutions, expand economic opportunities, and improve public safety:

  • Nasarawa State Fire & Rescue Service Agency
  • Nasarawa State Education Trust Fund (NASETFund)
  • Institute of Leather & Science Technology, Doma
  • Nasarawa State Multi-Door Court House (NSMDC)

In his response, Speaker Jatau pledged the Assembly’s commitment to thoroughly and promptly process the 2026 budget, ensuring smooth execution of government programs. He also encouraged residents to uphold peace, unity, and mutual respect across political, ethnic, and religious lines.
