Police Arrest Bride Accused of Killing Husband Three Days After Their Wedding in Katsina.

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a newly married woman, alleged to have stabbed her husband to death just three days after their wedding in Jibia Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, revealed in a statement that the groom was discovered lying in a pool of blood inside his home in the Tashar Buja community and was later confirmed dead at the hospital.

According to the police statement:

  • “On November 23rd, 2025, at about 1:30pm, a report was received at the Jibia Division that one Abdullahi (not his real name), a newly wedded groom, was found motionless in a pool of blood at his residence in Tashar Buja quarters, Jibia LGA, Katsina State. Detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where he was found with a deep cut to his neck. He was rushed to the hospital but confirmed dead on arrival.”

Aliyu added that a key suspect—believed to be the groom’s wife—has been arrested as investigations continue.

Community Shocked Over Groom’s Death

Residents identified the victim as Abubakar Abdulkarim, popularly known as Dan Gaske, who reportedly married the suspect, Zainab Muhammad, only on Thursday, three days before the incident.

Local sources alleged that the bride attacked her husband while he was asleep and later visited a neighbour to ask for food. Her behaviour raised suspicion among women in the area, prompting them to follow her home, where they allegedly found the groom’s lifeless body.

Family members of the deceased refuted claims that the marriage was forced, insisting that the couple shared a cordial relationship before their wedding.

Police Promise Thorough Investigation

The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, assured the public that detectives are conducting a detailed and transparent investigation into the case. He also urged residents to come forward with any useful information that could aid the ongoing inquiry.
