Although details of the emergency meeting remain undisclosed, it is strongly linked to the wave of violent abductions targeting schools in Kebbi and Niger states over the past week.

Maga School Abduction — Kebbi State

On November 17, armed bandits invaded the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Danko-Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State.

Reports revealed that the attackers struck in the early hours of Monday, killing the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, who was shot while defending the students.
Several schoolgirls were abducted during the raid, which occurred without resistance and sent shockwaves across the region.

St. Mary’s School Kidnapping — Niger State

Barely days after the Kebbi tragedy, heavily armed gunmen stormed St. Mary’s Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwarra LGA of Niger State.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in large numbers, riding on over 60 motorcycles and accompanied by a van.
They shot the school’s gatekeeper, leaving him seriously injured, before abducting students and teachers from the Catholic-owned institution.

According to the Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), a total of 315 persons were initially kidnapped, though 50 students later escaped between Friday and Saturday.

CAN Chairman Most Rev. Bulus Yohanna, who also serves as the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, confirmed that the escaped pupils have been reunited with their families.
His spokesman, Daniel Atori, clarified that the school’s primary section has 430 pupils, with 377 boarders and 53 day students.
