The Osun State House of Assembly has thrown its full weight behind Governor Ademola Adeleke, unanimously endorsing him for a second term in office ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
During a plenary session held on Tuesday, a vote of confidence was passed on the governor, marking a strong show of support from the 26-member House, which comprises 25 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The motion was sponsored by Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi of Obokun State Constituency and seconded by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola of Ede South Constituency.
Speaker Praises Governor’s Achievements
Speaker Adewale Egbedun, presiding over the session, commended Governor Adeleke for his visionary leadership and the progress made under his administration. He highlighted the governor’s five-point agenda, describing it as impactful and beneficial to the people of Osun.
“We are proud of your achievements and unwavering commitment to Osun State. Your leadership is a beacon of hope and progress,” the Speaker stated, celebrating the governor’s 65th birthday alongside the endorsement.
Lawmakers Applaud Governor’s Integrity
Several lawmakers spoke in favor of the motion, including Hon. Simeon Popoola, representing Boripe-Boluwaduro Constituency, who offered high praise for Governor Adeleke’s personal qualities.
“Politics aside, Mr. Governor is genuine, loving, and transparent. These traits have translated into outstanding governance,” Popoola said.

Following the debate, the Speaker called for a voice vote, and the endorsement was unanimously upheld by the Assembly.
