The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that popular social media activist Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), will be released once he meets his bail conditions.
Speaking to BBC News Pidgin, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated:
“We will release him if he meets his bail conditions, and we will take the case to court as soon as possible.”
According to the EFCC, VDM’s arrest in Abuja followed multiple petitions submitted by individuals accusing him of misconduct.

“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” Oyewale explained.

VDM’s detention has sparked online backlash and criticism, with many Nigerians accusing the EFCC of attempting to silence the voices of dissent.
Earlier today, protests broke out in Abuja as a group of concerned youths took to the streets demanding the immediate release of the controversial activist.
