Suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has stated that she will only provide evidence to back her sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio if directed to do so by a court of law.
Her reaction follows a second formal request made by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and counsel to Akpabio, Olisa Agbakoba, who demanded a public retraction of her claims, describing them as “unsubstantiated.”
Background of the Controversy
Agbakoba had issued two letters—dated April 14 and April 22, 2025—calling on Natasha to clarify what he called “contradictions” in her claims, especially her reported harassment on December 8, 2023, followed by a public commendation of Akpabio the next day on social media.
At a press briefing in Lagos, Agbakoba stated that Natasha had neither responded to the letters nor produced any supporting evidence.
Natasha’s Firm Response
In a strongly worded statement, Natasha insisted that she had not received the letters, either by courier, email, or in person. She accused Akpabio’s legal team of launching a media smear campaign while invoking the subjudice principle to prevent a Senate inquiry.
“The court is the proper venue to evaluate my claims. I will not entertain media debates or legal pressure outside due process,” she said.
She reaffirmed her commitment to her complaint lodged on February 28, 2025, promising to pursue the case through domestic and international legal channels.
Key Excerpts from Natasha’s Statement:
“The assessment of evidence belongs to the courts alone.”

“Your demand indicates a misunderstanding of what sexual harassment truly entails under global human rights frameworks.”
“Any further evidence will be disclosed only as directed by the Honourable Courts.”
She added that bypassing the legal process could undermine the rule of law—something Agbakoba himself has long defended.
