Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Monday, March 31, 2025, paid a condolence visit to his Kano State counterpart, Abba Yusuf, over the tragic Uromi killings that claimed the lives of 16 Kano-bound travellers.
The victims, reportedly hunters, were traveling from Port Harcourt to Kano for Eid-el-Fitr celebrations when they were mistaken for criminals and killed by a vigilante group in Uromi, Esan North East LGA, Edo State.
Presidential Response to Uromi Killings
The heinous act has sparked widespread condemnation, with President Bola Tinubu ordering a swift and thorough investigation into the attack.
“The President, who expressed shock at the dastardly act, has directed the Police and other security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice,” said Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.

During his visit, Governor Okpebholo reassured Governor Yusuf and the people of Kano that those responsible for the unjust killings would be held accountable.
