Tragic Sallah Accident in Katsina: Nine Dead, Several Injured.

A fatal road accident claimed the lives of at least nine people on Sunday morning along the Malumfashi-Kafur road in Katsina State, casting a shadow over the Sallah celebrations.

According to the Katsina Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aliyu Ma’aji, the crash involved a lone Hummer bus carrying 20 passengers.

Cause of the Tragic Crash

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident resulted from excessive speeding and loss of control.

“Nine passengers died on the spot, while 11 others sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention,” Ma’aji confirmed.

Authorities Warn Against Reckless Driving

In response to the incident, the FRSC has reiterated its call for motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, particularly during festive periods. The commander cautioned against speeding, overloading, and reckless driving—factors that continue to contribute to high accident rates despite government efforts to improve road infrastructure.
