The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, led a delegation of Abuja residents to the Presidential Villa on Sunday to pay Sallah homage to President Bola Tinubu.
The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and other notable FCT leaders were also present at the event.
Tinubu Commends Wike’s Leadership in Abuja
During the visit, President Tinubu praised Wike for transforming Abuja’s infrastructure and enhancing the city’s status as the nation’s capital. This came amid speculations that Wike had collapsed at a meeting on Friday and was flown to France for medical attention—rumors that have since been debunked.
Notably, Wike was seen on Friday hosting the leadership of the Body of Benchers before embarking on an inspection of ongoing projects across the FCT.
Wike Reaffirms Loyalty to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda
Speaking at the Villa, Wike congratulated President Tinubu and the Muslim Ummah on successfully completing 30 days of fasting, prayers, and sacrifice during Ramadan. He described the visit as historic, the first time FCT residents could personally extend their Sallah greetings to the President.
“As we approach the second anniversary of your administration, we are excited about the impactful projects lined up for commissioning,” Wike stated.
According to the FCT Minister, these developmental projects reflect Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure, economic growth, and improved quality of life for Nigerians.
Key FCT Developments Under Tinubu’s Leadership
Wike highlighted major strides in the FCT Administration (FCTA), made possible through President Tinubu’s support, including:
- Exit of FCTA from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) for improved financial autonomy.
- Creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission, enhancing governance.
- Establishment of two new Mandate Secretariats for Women and Youth development.
- Appointment of Permanent Secretaries to strengthen governance.
- He also appreciated Tinubu’s physical presence at five out of the nine major projects commissioned last year.
- FCT Residents Pledge Support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda
Wike assured the President that the FCT community, comprising traditional rulers, security agencies, political leaders, religious groups, and ordinary citizens, remains committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
