A prominent support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), has declared that their loyalty to the President is based on long-standing conviction and not blind loyalty, as critics have claimed.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the DOJ National Coordinator, Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, emphasized that their support for Tinubu began long before the 2023 presidential elections and continues to be rooted in national interest and belief in Tinubu’s reform agenda.

“We have been working for Tinubu’s presidential ambition long before he made up his mind to contest in 2023, which he eventually won,” Alawuje stated.

He dismissed emerging political coalitions positioning themselves as alternatives for 2027, warning Nigerians not to be swayed by recycled politicians with tainted public records.

“These individuals parading themselves under new coalitions were the same ones who mortgaged Nigeria’s future in the past. Their political ideology is based on opportunism and deception. Nigerians must not be fooled,” he added.

Support for Tinubu’s Economic Reforms and Renewed Hope Agenda

The group reaffirmed its commitment to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, specifically applauding his bold economic reforms, including the controversial removal of fuel subsidy.

“The fuel subsidy was a fraudulent system draining the nation. Its removal, although disruptive at first, was a necessary step in rebuilding the economy. President Tinubu is not perfect, but he is laying the foundation for lasting reform,” Alawuje noted.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and not allow failed political actors to resurface under new guises and derail the country’s progress.

“Silence in the face of deceit is dangerous. We must speak up and stand firm for the truth. Only those who genuinely work for the good of Nigeria deserve our respect,” he concluded, offering prayers for Nigeria’s unity and progress.
