NaijaBlogDaily reports that Senate President Godswill Akpabio has boldly declared that political party divisions will cease to exist in Akwa Ibom State by the time the 2027 general elections arrive.
Speaking during his midterm constituency empowerment programme held at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, Akpabio said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), once dominant in the state, is now in disarray.
“As I speak with you, there is nothing like a political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State again. For the Senate of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, all political parties have collapsed to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio,” he declared.
Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, also pledged support for Governor Umo Eno, describing him as a peace-loving, God-fearing leader who has united the state.
PDP in Shambles?
According to Akpabio, the PDP’s symbolic umbrella is “torn into shreds” and can no longer protect its members, signalling what he described as the collapse of opposition structures in the state.
He said Akwa Ibom’s support is now consolidated around President Bola Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, and himself.
Massive Empowerment Programme
- At the event, 1,690 beneficiaries received a wide array of empowerment items, including:
- 30 minibuses
- 67 passenger tricycles
- 50 cassava processing machines
- 347 deep freezers
- 247 generating sets
- Cash grants
- Truckloads of 50kg bags of rice
- And other livelihood-enhancing tools
Akpabio commended his wife, Unoma Akpabio, for her continuous grassroots empowerment initiatives, saying:
“She does it because she knows hunger has no political party.”
68 Projects to Be Commissioned
The Senate President also revealed that 68 projects have been lined up for commissioning across his senatorial district between May 16 and 17, 2025, reflecting what he called “life-touching” development efforts.
