The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the arrest of 27 impersonators during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In a statement released on Friday by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board said the arrested individuals have been handed over to the Nigerian Police for prosecution.
Four CBT Centres Delisted
JAMB also confirmed the delisting of four Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres that failed to meet the board’s technical and ethical standards.
The affected centres are:
- Adventure Associate, Behind Sheshe Supermarket, Off Hadejia Road, Kano
- Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano
- Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 1, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal
- Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 2, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal
“While JAMB commends the 883 centres that have demonstrated exceptional performance, it unequivocally warns that any centre which failed the ethical or technical standards, regardless of ownership, will be blacklisted,” the statement read.
Candidates previously scheduled at the delisted centres are urged to reprint their examination slips immediately to know their new centres and rescheduled dates.
Hijab Controversy at Caleb University Centre
JAMB also addressed a hijab-related incident at its Caleb University CBT Centre, where candidates were reportedly restricted from wearing hijabs.
The board described the act as “unauthorized and misguided,” attributing it to an overzealous security officer. It added that swift corrective action had been taken, and the university’s vice chancellor condemned the act.
“We extend our sincere apologies to the affected candidates and commend the leadership of the centre and university for promptly resolving the issue,” JAMB stated.
UTME Progress Report
As of Friday, April 25th, 2025, over 900,000 candidates out of the 2,083,600 registered had successfully written their UTME.
