Grammy-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter Tems has launched a groundbreaking platform called the Leading Vibe Initiative, aimed at empowering young women in the African music industry. The initiative is set to begin in Lagos, Nigeria, with plans to expand globally.

The Leading Vibe Initiative is designed to bridge the gender gap in music by offering training, mentorship, and access to music production tools to female artists, songwriters, and producers aged 18 to 35. According to Tems, the program will provide:
- Hands-on workshops and technical training
- Mentorship sessions with industry professionals
- Access to high-end production equipment, in partnership with Native Instruments
- Networking opportunities with established creatives and executives
🚀 A Mission Rooted in Experience
Tems, who rose to global fame through her soulful sound and independent spirit, says the program reflects her own journey as a self-taught artist navigating a male-dominated industry.
- “There are thousands of young women just like me—with a voice, a gift, and a desire to be heard,” Tems said.
- “This initiative is for the ones who believe, who dare to be different, and who are just waiting for a space where they can shine.”

Despite their talent, women remain underrepresented in the music industry, particularly in technical roles like producing and engineering. The Leading Vibe program aims to correct this imbalance by building a support network “for women, by women” that starts in Africa and extends across the globe.
“It’s more than a program. It’s a movement, a network, a wave,” Tems added. “Now is the time to rise, the time to be seen and heard. We are the Leading Vibe—and we’re just getting started.”
