A tragic incident occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State, as a student preparing to write the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) was allegedly killed by a stray bullet.
The heartbreaking event happened on Tuesday morning along Gbagi Market Road in Egbeda Local Government Area. According to eyewitness reports, the student was riding on a motorcycle with his father and twin brother, heading to the WAEC examination centre, when a stray bullet — reportedly fired by a police officer chasing a suspect — struck him fatally.
Eyewitnesses, including a man identified as Ajani, claimed that a police officer opened fire during a hot pursuit of a fleeing vehicle. One of the bullets allegedly hit the student, leading to his immediate collapse. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

“The boy and his twin brother were heading to the exam centre on a bike with their father when the bullet hit him. It’s a very painful loss,” another witness recounted.
In reaction to the incident, angry youths carried the student’s body to the Oyo State Secretariat at Agodi, demanding justice and urgent intervention from Governor Seyi Makinde. They called for an immediate investigation and action against the officer involved.

The deceased has been deposited at the Adeoyo Hospital mortuary, and as of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the Oyo State Police Command or the state government.
