PDP Governors Vow to Resist Federal Government’s Intimidation, Reaffirm Commitment to Democracy.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has declared that it will not bow to what it describes as intimidation and exclusion tactics by the Federal Government. This strong message was delivered at the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the PDP, held on Tuesday in Abuja.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, highlighted the political challenges and systemic pressures facing the opposition party.

“We have encountered obstacles, subtle provocations, and unprecedented political dynamics, yet we remain focused and united,” Mohammed said.

PDP Governors Stand Firm Amidst Defections and Political Pressure

Governor Mohammed acknowledged the wave of political defections and ongoing coalition talks, which he noted have tested the party’s resilience. Despite these developments, he maintained that the PDP remains stronger and more united than ever.

“No form of intimidation or political manipulation has been spared against us as elected governors. But we remain resolute in our duty to protect democratic values and provide good governance,” he declared.

He contrasted the PDP’s internal unity with what he called the fragmentation of other political parties, implying that the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is dealing with internal discord.

“Unlike other parties facing internal crises and leadership struggles, the PDP stands as one strong, united family,” he noted.

PDP Governance and Visibility Across States

Governor Mohammed also emphasized the importance of the PDP’s state-level engagement strategy, including recent governors’ meetings in Plateau, Taraba, Oyo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bauchi States.

These meetings, he said, have resulted in the issuance of communiqués on national governance issues, thereby reinforcing the PDP’s presence and commitment to addressing Nigeria’s key challenges.

“Our efforts in these states show that we are not retreating. We are engaging, we are active, and we are responding to the needs of Nigerians,” he explained.

Democracy Must Prevail – PDP Governors

He hailed the 99th NEC meeting as a victory for democracy and credited the party’s leaders and members for their patience and perseverance amid political hardship.

Governor Mohammed also hinted at the creation of new subcommittees within the PDP Governors’ Forum to boost strategic planning and party performance at the national level.

“This meeting is a triumph of democratic resilience. We are committed to strengthening the PDP and standing firm against all forms of exclusion or intimidation by the federal authorities,” he added.

PDP’s Final Message: We Will Not Be Silenced

In a strong conclusion, the PDP Governors’ Forum reassured Nigerians of its readiness to defend democracy, withstand government intimidation, and uphold the voice of the opposition.

“No amount of pressure, hardship, or criticism from the Federal Government will silence us. We will continue to serve the people and speak truth to power,” Mohammed asserted.
