EFCC Grills VeryDarkMan for Second Day Over Financial Crime Allegations, Grants Administrative Bail.

Popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has spent the Fourth consecutive day in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following allegations of financial misconduct.

Sources confirm that VDM is under investigation for alleged financial crimes, not for his public criticisms of the EFCC, as some have speculated. He was interrogated on Tuesday for several hours at the EFCC headquarters, accompanied by his lawyer, Barrister Marvin Omorogbe from Deji Adeyanju’s law firm.

According to SaharaReporters, Barrister Omorogbe was at the EFCC office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., but could not secure bail for his client before leaving. Deji Adeyanju later confirmed that efforts were ongoing to meet bail conditions.

BREAKING: The EFCC has since confirmed in an official statement that VDM has been granted administrative bail and will be released upon meeting his bail terms. The Commission emphasized that his arrest was triggered by petitions alleging serious financial crimes, not his criticism of the agency.

“Martins Innocent Otse was invited by the EFCC over multiple petitions involving grave allegations of financial crimes. He ignored several invitations before law enforcement action was taken,” the EFCC said.

The anti-graft agency further clarified:

“While we are aware of his public attacks against the Commission, his arrest was not related to those comments. Law enforcement authorities may, however, look into those as a separate matter.”

VDM’s detention has since sparked heated debate across social media, with many of his supporters accusing the EFCC of attempting to silence a prominent critic. Critics of the agency argue that the arrest sends a troubling message about freedom of expression and transparency in law enforcement.

As the case unfolds, attention is now focused on whether VDM will soon regain his freedom and how the EFCC will handle the allegations against him.
