Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has held his first Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting in the newly inaugurated Anambra State Government House Mini City in Awka.
The state-of-the-art facility, which was inaugurated two weeks ago by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during a one-day working visit, has been described as a “mini city”, boasting 37 modern buildings within its expansive grounds.

This landmark meeting on May 19, 2025, marked the official beginning of the relocation from the old, makeshift government house in Awka — a temporary setup that had served the state since its creation in 1991.
For 34 years, Anambra operated from a provisional government house, with governors residing in Amawbia, a nearby town, due to the absence of a permanent Governor’s Lodge.
Soludo: A New Era for Governance in Anambra
According to a press statement by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the 8th ANSEC meeting of 2025 is a historic milestone that “breaks the 34-year jinx” and sets the tone for a new chapter in Anambra’s governance.
Governor Soludo opened the meeting with prayers, expressing hope that every decision made in the new ANSEC chambers would foster development, unity, and prosperity across the state.

Dr. Mefor added, “The Council relived the successful visit of President Tinubu and lauded the hospitality of Ndi Anambra, which left a strong impression on the President and his entourage.”
The council also reaffirmed its commitment to policies that promote the welfare, security, and economic growth of the people of Anambra State.
