JAMB to Release 2025 Rescheduled UTME Results Tomorrow May 21st.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will officially release the 2025 rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

According to the notice issued by JAMB, the release event will take place at 10:00 AM at the board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.

A total of 379,997 candidates from six Nigerian states—Lagos, Imo, Anambra, Oyo, Abia, and Ebonyi—retook the examination between May 16 and May 18, 2025. The rescheduling came after widespread technical glitches marred the original UTME exercise, which began on April 24.

JAMB Admits Fault and Tenders Apology

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, openly admitted the board’s fault in the mass failure that trailed the initial UTME results. Speaking at a press conference, Oloyede took full responsibility and issued a heartfelt apology to the affected candidates and the public.

He stated:

“Please, I apologise and take full responsibility not just in words… I appeal to the candidates and those affected by the error of our system to accept this explanation as the truth of the matter without embellishment.”

Fighting back tears, the Registrar disclosed that 65 exam centres in Lagos and 92 centres in the South East (Owerri zone) were affected due to staff negligence and technical failures.

JAMB’s Commitment to Transparency and Reforms

In a moment of reflection, Prof. Oloyede acknowledged the public outcry and emphasized that JAMB remains a responsive and transparent organization. He appreciated Nigerians for their criticism, saying it reflects a deep concern for the future of education in the country.

“We are grateful that Nigerians care. Indifference would have been worse. The board will learn from this painful experience and reform our systems to prevent future occurrences.”

Despite the challenges, the board has completed the technical audit and review, and results from the rescheduled UTME will be accessible starting tomorrow.

Background on the 2025 UTME Crisis

The original UTME commenced on April 24, 2025, and was initially praised as one of the smoothest in JAMB’s history.

However, mass failure rates and technical disruptions quickly triggered national concern.
